Method
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water, dry yeast, and sugar. Whisk until dissolved and let stand for 5 minutes.
- Add the neutral oil and whisk to combine. Then, add flour and salt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms and knead by hand for 5-7 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough, divide it into 3 equal parts for braiding, and roll into ropes.
- Braid the ropes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Brush the tops with aquafaba (optional) and sprinkle with seeds if desired. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
