Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups red, white, and blue M&Ms (or chocolate chips)
  • 1/4 cup red, white, and blue sprinkles (optional)
  • edible glitter stars

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until fully combined.
  5. Fold in the red, white, and blue M&Ms and sprinkles if using.
  6. Drop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow them to cool for a minute on the baking sheet before transferring to a cooling rack.
  9. Decorate with edible glitter stars before serving.
